Our Team
From our office staff to our crew of over 20 installers, the Excel team combines skill, training, and experience to complete your project with precision and care. Unlike many competitors, we directly employ our installers and provide them with health insurance and a 401(k). That’s why big-name companies often subcontract our crew to do their work—but when you hire Excel, you get the original.
Our History
In 1963, Tom Claypool founded the company as Dearborn Siding. As the business grew, so did the Claypool family. Tom’s three sons soon joined the team, each honing a specialty—Tony excelled in siding, while the others found their own niches. By 1980, the company officially became Excel Home Improvement, continuing to grow while maintaining close partnerships with the Claypool brothers’ businesses. Today, Carson Claypool proudly leads the third generation, bringing Excel into a new era of innovation, craftsmanship, and community trust.
